Hi, How are you?
My name is Satoshi. I'm student from Japan. I'm studying English and American
culture. I used to be an amateur packetter in Japan, and my call is JQ1TIV.

Ooops - disregard my last post. I just saw the word "mac."
What a dummy I can be when I try.

I just ran across a program on Compuserve that is not-so-humbly billed as
the best packet program ever. It is called "PAKET" and it is very, very good.
Since it is shareware, give it a look.

I'd say it depends a lot on whether you make the service public or not. When
you use the AX25 drivers in the kernel, as I understand it, you have no
ability to set controls on what services or ip addresses pass from one port
to the other. JNOS implements TCP and IP access controls. I've not
tinkered with area yet, as my linux box is on a local ethernet with a jnos
box handling the radios. However, for license preservation, look carefully
at how much control you may need to exercise over non-amateurs attempting
to use services or access stations on the air. The FCC is not in favor of
unlicensed operations!

Maybe tcp wrappers will do the trick ?

: Two KAMs were run in parallel by running the radio port lines in

: porting will not work in the FSK mode. The KAM uses a simple
: transistor switch to hold the FSK line low unless a toggle is

:
It is possible with a few transistors and diodes (or horrors >relays<) to
make a switching circuit that only passes FSK data from the TNC that
activates its PTT output. This does require routing both PTT and FSK
signals from both TNCs through the circuit, with outputs consisting of a
switched FSK signal and a PTT signal for the radio. I ginned one of these
up on a super-strip about a year ago to verify the functionality, so yes, it
does work.
: (NOTE 3: Two virtually identical HF MSYS BBS systems were
: tested over a long period of time from many locations under
: many conditions. One system was operated with FSK and the
: other with AFSK. If there was a difference between FSK and
: AFSK, it was so slight that it was not measurable. AFSK is
: fine.)
:
Also, with the Kenwood TS-450 and TS-850 and AFSK operations frequently
seems to result in RF feedback - completly avoided when switching to FSK.

Subject: TNC emulator for ATARI portfolio
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
Does anyone have a small tnc emulator (baycom?) that would fit into
a 128 kb ram card of an atari portfolio and run within 256kb of RAM?
I am building a small baycom modem for AX.25 packet on 2m and would like
to use my Atari Portfolio with a serial interface to create my first
and portable packet station.
P.S. The Atari Portfolio uses a derived version of msdos 2 or 3.XX
I would require a compiled version if possible.
Thanks in advance!
